Explore Our Technology

At Maui Optix, we use modern diagnostic and treatment technology to better understand your eye health and provide personalized care. From detailed imaging and vision testing to dry eye treatment and specialty diagnostics, our technology helps our doctors make informed decisions about your care.

OptiLIGHT by Lumenis

OptiLIGHT is a light-based treatment designed to help manage dry eye disease caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), one of the leading causes of dry eye symptoms. Using precise intense pulsed light (IPL) technology, OptiLIGHT helps reduce inflammation around the eyes and support healthier gland function.

Treatment is noninvasive, comfortable, and performed in-office. Many patients experience improvements in symptoms such as burning, irritation, redness, fluctuating vision, and watery eyes as part of a personalized dry eye treatment plan.

The EliteMD iPro Infinity combines multiple treatment technologies into one platform, including radiofrequency (RF), low-level light therapy (LLLT), and intense pulsed light (IPL). These treatments can be used to help address the underlying causes of dry eye disease by supporting meibomian gland function, improving oil production, and reducing inflammation around the eyes.

Because every patient’s condition is unique, our doctors can customize treatment recommendations based on your symptoms, examination findings, and long-term eye health goals.

The OCULUS Keratograph 5M is a highly detailed imaging system used to evaluate both corneal health and dry eye disease. It creates a precise map of the cornea while also measuring tear film stability, tear volume, and meibomian gland health.

Because the testing is noninvasive, patients can comfortably undergo a thorough dry eye evaluation without touching the surface of the eye. The detailed images help our doctors identify the root causes of dry eye symptoms and develop personalized treatment recommendations.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) allows our doctors to view detailed cross-sectional images of the retina and optic nerve. This imaging technology helps detect and monitor many eye conditions, often before noticeable symptoms develop.

OCT can be used to evaluate changes associated with glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other retinal conditions. The scan is quick, painless, and provides valuable information that supports early detection and long-term monitoring of eye health.

The Optos Monaco captures ultra-widefield images of the retina, allowing our doctors to examine a much larger portion of the back of the eye than traditional methods.

These detailed images help detect and monitor retinal tears, diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, and other eye health concerns. The images are stored electronically, making it easy to compare results over time and monitor subtle changes that may occur between visits.

Visual field testing measures how well you see throughout your entire field of vision, including your peripheral vision. This information is especially important when monitoring conditions such as glaucoma, neurological disorders, and other diseases that can affect the visual pathway.

During the test, patients respond to light targets presented in different areas of their vision. The results provide important diagnostic information and help our doctors track changes over time.

The Medmont Topographer creates a highly detailed map of the cornea’s shape and curvature. This technology is particularly useful when fitting specialty contact lenses, monitoring corneal conditions, and evaluating patients for certain vision correction options

By collecting thousands of data points across the surface of the eye, the system provides precise measurements that support more customized and accurate patient care.

The NIDEK Autorefractor provides an objective starting point for determining your glasses or contact lens prescription. Using advanced optical measurements, the device quickly evaluates how light travels through the eye and estimates refractive error.

While it does not replace a comprehensive refraction performed by your doctor, it provides valuable information that helps improve efficiency and accuracy during your eye examination.

Our virtual reality testing system offers an innovative way to perform certain vision assessments in an immersive environment. The technology supports specialized testing and screening while providing a comfortable, engaging patient experience.

By incorporating modern digital tools into the examination process, we can gather valuable information about visual performance and eye function in a unique and interactive way.

iCare tonometers provide a comfortable way to measure intraocular pressure, an important part of evaluating glaucoma risk and overall eye health.

Unlike traditional air-puff testing, iCare technology uses a small, lightweight probe that briefly contacts the eye and requires no air blast. The measurement is quick, gentle, and well tolerated by both children and adults, making it a convenient option for routine eye examinations and ongoing glaucoma monitoring.
